Five Things Your Church Website Should Have

More people are finding churches by using the Internet, primarily through using Google. To make sure people can locate your church, it is important to rank high in Google's search results. How high your site shows up in Google depends, on part, on the content of your site. For example, if someone searching for your church types in the city in which your church is located, your church is highly likely to show up on the search results if the city is included on the home page. Five items that should be included on your home page include:
1. Church Information
    a. Church Name
    b. Church Address
    c. Church Phone Number
    d. Denomination
2. Location map/directions - A link can be placed directly on the home page, or a separate page can be created, with directions and a map to your church. When adding a map link to MapQuest or Google Maps, be sure to enter your church's address into their site, then copy that link into MemberConnect. This way when someone clicks the link to the map, the church’s information will already be entered.
3. Service times - Days and times of services. You may also want to include special services or Bible study.
4. E-mail Us Link - Adding an E-mail Us link on the home page will also give member's an easy way of contacting the church directly. The E-mail Us link can also be placed on the About Us page along with the address and phone number.
5. About Us Page- Having an About Us page will give people the opportunity to learn a little bit about the church before coming to visit.
Including this information on your church's home page will help you improve your position in Google's results and therefore help people find you more easily. As you build your site, always consider what you would search for if looking for a church and include that on your home page.
